What is Google Authenticator?

Google Authenticator is a free application that generates secure verification codes for two-factor authentication (2FA), helping protect accounts beyond just passwords.

Follow the instructions below to install and set up Google Authenticator on your device.

Install the Google Authenticator App on your device

iPhone & iPad Installation Guide

  1. Open the Apple App Store.

  2. Use the search bar to search for Google Authenticator.

  3. Look for the app published by Google.

  4. Tap Get → authenticate with Face ID, Touch ID, or password.

  5. Once installed, open the app and follow setup instructions.

Minimum requirement: iOS device running a recent iOS version.

Android Installation Guide

  1. Open the Google Play Store.

  2. Search for Google Authenticator.

  3. Select the app by Google.

  4. Tap Install.

  5. Open the app after installation and follow setup instructions.

Minimum requirement: Android device with access to Play Store.

Setup Cohere in the Authenticator App (All Devices)

  1. Open the now downloaded Google Authenticator App on your device.

  2. Tap Get Started. (If you already had the authenticator app prior to Cohere use, on this step, select the plus sign in the bottom right corner.)

  3. Choose:

    • Scan QR code (recommended), or

    • Enter setup key manually.

  4. Scan the QR code provided by the Cohere website you're securing.

  5. Authenticator will begin generating login codes.
